is a type of tea that is more oxidized than oolong, green and white teas. Once the leaves have fully oxidized they are heat-processed and dried. It is generally stronger in flavor than the less oxidized teas and can produce malty, fruity or even smokey qualities. Black tea can retain its flavor for several years.

generally features young and/or minimally processed leaves. It comes from the buds and immature tea leaves that are picked shortly before the buds have fully opened. The leaves and buds are allowed to wither and dry in natural sun. The name “white tea” derives from the fine silvery-white hairs on the unopened buds of the tea plant, which gives the plant a whitish appearance. The beverage itself is not white or colorless but pale yellow and light to the taste.
